Animal Print Done Wrong

Hello my fellow bag lovers. Earlier, I posted a review on Dior's laudable use of animal print. As I said, it's hard to do it right; even Dolce & Gabbana fails to avoid the quicksand and falls into a pit full of "tacky" with its Animalier bags.

When I see these bags... I see a middle-aged woman with bottled blond hair, a polyester track suit, and perhaps a pair of black leather mules. Am I stereotyping? Yes. But so was D&G when they made these bags - they stereotyped animal print right onto bags stitched with boring swaths of brown leather into completely uninspired and droopy shapes. Although obtrusive patches emblazoned with the label's logo advertise the $995-$1,275 price point, the bags still look cheap.

Don't get yours at a Neiman Marcus near you today!
